“Brows are the frame to your face. And you would not put a pretty picture in an ugly frame!”
Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson
This one quote by Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson clearly shows how crucial the role of the Eyebrow is to the overall makeup look. Having a voluminous and maintained eyebrow style boosts looks and helps define eyes.
Those of us who have sparse brows only we know the struggle of maintaining the brows. I have tried all sorts of oils, from the most available ones to the least available ones. But it barely created any difference. Moreover, I could make a very minimal difference without the proper skill set after investing tons of time.
Thank god!! That’s precisely when I learned about the magical technique to make my Eyebrow look fixed, fuller, defined & well-shaped. The life-saving process is none other than Eyebrow Microblading.
After I went through the Eyebrow Microblading process, I did not take the hassle of filling in my brows every morning, nor did I spend time learning the skill set to maintain my Eyebrow.
In this article, I will share every detail you should know about Microblading Eyebrow to help you decide. So, without wasting any more of our time, let’s dive into the details.

WHAT IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING?
A semi-permanent tattoo method called Microblading can contour your brows and eyes naturally. Essentially, it’s on your skin’s surface. You may call it the “Brow Skyscraper,” as I do.
Unlike permanent tattoos, semi-permanent tattoos are injected into the second layer of skin, the dermal surface, with the help of numbing cream. And, due to the numbing cream, Microblading eyebrows don’t hurt much.
The process requires a small, portable device with sufficient safety and minuscule needles. Microblading is used to grow, repair, or change eyebrow form, structure, and eyebrow color, making your eyes more apparent.
You can choose whichever brow color you desire. But make sure you select the color wisely. Because if the color doesn’t work for you, it will be a waste of effort and money.
- THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW-
As needles are used in the Microblading process, there is a chance of bleeding. So, you should ensure that a professional and experienced Microblading artist works on your eyebrows.
EYEBROW MICROBLADING BEFORE & AFTER
IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING A TATTOO?
One common misconception is that tattooing and Microblading are similar procedures. Which is undoubtedly not the case at all.
There are tons of differences between Eyebrow Microblading and Eyebrow Tattooing. Let’s take a look –
EYEBROW MICROBLADING | CRITERION | EYEBROW TATTOO |
Very updated & revolutionary Technique | TECHNIQUE | Traditional Technique |
Creates a very natural look | LOOK | Doesn’t Look natural at all |
Semi Permanent Makeup | TATTOO? | Permanent |
Gradually fades away | FADING | Doesn’t fade as fast as Semi-permanent |
Need Specialized Pigments & Needles | PRODUCT REQUIREMENT | Need a Tattoo gun with Ink |
Microblading goes into the Derma surface of the skin or to a mere 0.08mm to 0.15mm in depth | SKIN PENETRATION | Eyebrow tattoos are deposited below the epidermis (50 to 100 cell layers or 0.1 mm) in the papillary dermis |
Lasts about one to two years almost | LONGEVITY | Lasts around eight to ten years |
Though permanent Tattoos usually last longer than Eyebrow Microblading, the outcome of Eyebrow Microblading is much better than Eyebrow Tattoo. Eyebrow Microblading tends to appear natural until it fades away. However, regular touchups are required to maintain a fuller Eyebrow and prevent the pigment from fading away too quickly after the Microblading process.

IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING SUITABLE FOR THIN EYEBROWS?
YES!! In fact, those with thin and sparse eyebrows with no skin issues are the ideal candidates for Eyebrow Microblading.
People with thin or sparse brows may constantly experience discomfort in consistently shaping and defining their brows. This takes a lot of effort and expertise. But with Microblading, one can get rid of this hassle of shaping brows every now and then.
Eyebrow Microblading in thin eyebrows can help fill hair and make them bushy. Which alters the eye form that helps look the brows better defined and more attractive.
IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING SUITABLE FOR THICK EYEBROWS?
YES!! Microblading works fantastic for thicker brows as well.
If you have thick brows naturally, sometimes it is tough to create a natural shape. Also, people with thick eyebrows must pluck their brows every few days. Which is pretty painful. Therefore, eyebrow Microblading can be a good option for sharpening and defining brows to accentuate the overall look.
Once you get Microblading for thick eyebrows, you won’t have to use gel, pencil, a trimmer, or tweezers to sharpen or define your eyebrows every now and then.
ARE THERE ANY DISADVANTAGES OF EYEBROW MICROBLADING?
Nothing in this world is flawless. Everything has both pros and cons. So before deciding to do something, It’s always preferable to look at the disadvantages at least. In that way, you will be able to take a balanced decision.
Eyebrow Microblading has several limitations. It will be a blessing and time-saving technique if you do eyebrow Microblading with proper care before and after.
So don’t worry because your girl is about to reveal all Eyebrow Microblading’s cons that you should be aware of.
- SKIN ISSUE-
You should not do this if you have oily skin. Since it is intended for normal to dry skin. Your brows have the propensity to fade when exposed to oil.
Also, if the ink or numbing cream does not fit you. In that case, it may injure your skin in numerous situations, such as allergies, irritations, itchiness, etc. In addition, It can occasionally grow worse. You will find plenty of cases where people have significant skin issues after the Microblading process.
For example, Jasmine Coolidge, a young girl with extremely oily skin, said in the Weylie Hoangs Microblading review video that her strokes looked utterly blurred.
- COST-
Eyebrow Microblading is pretty expensive. So it would be best if you were extra cautious in choosing the Microblading color. Because if the color you choose and the shape you decide do not suit you, it will be a complete waste of money. We have a detailed cost section breaking down the costs that you will have to incur from the operation process to the touch-ups. Read more to find out.
- TOUGH CANDIDATURE-
Certain factors may prevent you from undergoing this process, such as if you are pregnant. Therefore, even if you desire it strongly, you should not undergo this surgery if you are pregnant.
Other disorders that might make you pout are diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, and hepatitis. Since this technique is not recommended if you are in such a condition, you won’t get what you desire, which is the dark side.
- MRI PATIENT-
Another possible drawback of Microblading is the MRI issue. Even though they are pretty uncommon, some negative reviews occasionally surface.
So, if you’re a patient who needs an MRI, you can talk to your doctor about it. If the doctor permits you only, then go for it; otherwise, it may burn or swell your skin.
So, BE CAREFUL!
- KELOIDS-
If you’re prone to KELOIDS, know this Microblading isn’t your thing.
According to Healthline, It’s better to avoid both Semi-permanent or permanent tattoos if you have Keloids-prone skin.
Keloids are a skin disorder that causes rubbery scars. Also, It can have shades like red and pink, which is pretty irritating. Granulation is a fibrous tissue that grows over the area to heal and cover the damage.
- LONGER HEALING TIME-
It takes about a month to fully heal. If you’re busy, this could not be very pleasant. Especially if you’re a corporate person or school attender or anyone who has a busy schedule.
IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
NOT THAT MUCH!!
It is not as painful as it looks or sounds because as soon as we hear that a blade is required in the process, we tend to think it has to be painful. But Microblading is definitely not that painful.
Because A numbing lotion is used on your indicated region before the eyebrow Microblading procedure. It is an anesthetizing cream that helps to do Microblading without pain. However, your brows will be uncomfortable once the numbing lotion wears off. In that case, you will have to use a pain medication prescribed by your Microblading artist.
The blade may cause discomfort when inserted into your brows through the skin. But the pain is really bearable. The process of eyebrow Microblading is basically nothing but dipping the blade into ink and then making hair-like strokes.
According to the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM) or the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP), semi-permanent makeup techniques rarely cause pain when all health regulations are followed, notably for disinfecting and sterilizing equipment.
Your ability to tolerate pain will also affect how uncomfortable brow Microblading might be. As a result, if you have a low pain threshold, Microblading your eyebrows may be more uncomfortable for you. You must be calm when the blade is placed into your skin.
I can guarantee you guys that even though there is barely any discomfort, your brows will be gorgeous and well-defined once the complete operation is done correctly.
HOW LONG DOES EYEBROW MICROBLADING TAKE TO BE EXECUTED?
Microblading the eyebrows is a time-consuming technique that can take anywhere from one to three hours to finish. And this number varies for a number of reasons for example your preparation for the process beforehand, and your artist’s experience, and expertise. Etc.
HOW LONG DOES EYEBROW MICROBLADING ACTUALLY LAST?
In general, eyebrow Microblading lasts for about 18 to 30 months.
According to Naomi Roopchand (A Microblading Expert), Eyebrow Microblading can last from 6 months to 24 months, depending on your skincare routine and the type of Skin.
According to another Microblading Expert, Umbreen Sheikh, one should get a touch-up in four to eight weeks of time.
Anything that is important to us usually lasts for a very long time, right? The same is true with eyebrow Microblading. As it is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure. It will eventually fade off if you do not regularly touch it up.
However, how long Microblading on the eyebrows last depends on your skin type, the number of touch-ups you use, age, genetics, and lifestyle all these factors actually come into play.
- AGE – Mature skin is perfect for Microblading since it fades slower on mature skin than on old or premature skin.
- LIFESTYLE – Tanning in the sun or booth will also cause fading faster. You need to scab between one week to fifteen days; however, the time depends from person to person. But it would be best to do your second sitting between four and eight weeks.
- SKIN TYPE – Microblading isn’t recommended for oily skin. If you do that, be careful. It fades otherwise. Oily or combination skin requires more maintenance than normal or dry skin. Normal or dry skin should also follow their Microblading artist’s aftercare instructions.
- PIGMENT – “To prevent the color from disappearing too soon, Ilays encourages patients to use broad sunglasses and sunscreen.”
Pigments are important in Microblading. Your Microblading artist’s pigments will also impact the procedure’s duration. Be sure they’re using high-quality pigments to avoid problems. Low-quality colors can burn skin, heal brows, and erase Microblading.
- TOUCH-UP –Â Touch-ups after Microblading are extremely important; you should go for touch-ups in four to eight weeks, depending on the conditions we have discussed here.
If you don’t touch up regularly, your eyebrows will appear dark, cause redness, irritation, or itching, then gradually lighten. Early fading often requires a touch-up at a follow-up session to fix sparseness. Oily skin needs more touch-ups than dry skin.
HOW MUCH DOES EYEBROW MICROBLADING COST?
Microblading is pretty expensive. And several factors determine the Microblading prices, for example – skin type, location, used tools, required frequency of touch-ups, and your Microblading expert’s expertise. But on average, regardless of these factors, you should expect to spend anywhere from 500 to 2000 USD.
Usually, you need to attend at least two sessions for Microblading. The initial procedure and the session for touch-ups. Depending on your Microblading artist’s policy, touch-up prices may vary. He/She might charge you a flat rate or different fees for additional touch-ups. For your convenience, I have researched quite a bit regarding country-wise prices, which I have attached at the end of this Microblading Price section. But Before that, let’s talk about the other factors determining the price.
- SKIN TYPE-
The cost of Microblading is heavily influenced by the type of skin you have. Thereby, Budget requirements are higher for those with oily skin (because pigment cannot be set correctly due to the grease on your skin) than for those with average dry skin.
- ARTIST’s EXPERIENCE-
Experienced professionals costs higher than those with less experience. My friend Lamia had her brows Microbladed a few days ago. What’s impressive is that she cost $250 in total. The pricing caught me off guard. I can’t believe she did this with a little budget.
However, After a few days, she experienced numerous problems, such as the color fading and the shape blurred. The main reason behind that was the artist was inexperienced. The pigment and numbing lotion the artist used didn’t suit my friend.
Therefore, it’s always better to seek a qualified Microblading artist with a high fee. Otherwise, your skin might be harmed.
- MICROBLADING TOOLS-
As the Microblading process is pretty complex, a set of advanced tools helps immensely. There are many tools an artist takes help from, for example, Blades, Universal holders, compasses, marking pencils, pigment mixture machines, pigment rings, numbing creams, disinfectants, and gloves. Etc.
Thus, your artist’s tools affect Microblading costs.
- LOCATION-
The location also impacts the price, meaning the average cost differs from country to country.
In Canada, the U.S., Australia, England, France, and other European countries, Microblading costs more. Since the salon rent cost in these locations is much higher than that in Asian countries like India, Thailand, and Malaysia. Etc.
Also, Microblading artist competition plays a role. The higher the number of Microblading artists available in a particular location, the higher the client’s bargaining power.

PREPARATION FOR EYEBROW MICROBLADING APPOINTMENT
- KEEP THE SKIN CLEAN –
The skin must be kept free of oil, filth, and grime. Cleansing the region with a mild cleaner helps remove dirt or dead skin. It’s essential to keep the skin clean.
- MOISTURIZE THE SKIN –
Moisturize your skin to strengthen its protective barrier and keep it in good condition before Microblading. Since a decent moisturizer can act as a shield for your skin. Those with dry skin should apply extra moisturizer to get the best effects. After getting a Microbladed brow, it’s important to moisturize to avoid any inflammation.
- CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR –
Discuss your existing drugs with your doctor. Your doctor can best advise you on eyebrow Microblading based on your medical history.
- CONSULT WITH AT LEAST TWO MICROBLADING ARTISTS –
Discuss with your Microblading artist all your queries regarding the process, such as the required time, expected pain level, and compatible colors and shapes based on your skin type. If possible, try to consult with at least two artists so that you can verify all of your concerns.
- MORE PREPARATIONAL TIPS –
- At least one week before the procedure, you should refrain from picking, tweezing, or waxing your eyebrows.
- Before the treatment, you should refrain from extensive physical activity, for example, working out.
- Try to avoid getting any facials at least seven days before Microblading.
- Before the procedure, avoid tanning. A tanned face will exfoliate your brows. This indicates that a couple of months following your summer vacation is the optimal time to complete this procedure. Any month after that works too.
- Before your appointment, don’t drink alcohol. Because this can thin your blood and cause bleeding.
AFTERCARE FOR EYEBROW MICROBLADING
- Clean the brow region with Cetaphil or another fragrance-free gel cleanser and water. Wash your hands. Avoid rough sponges and washcloths.
- To get rid of hyperpigmentation ad scarring while the pigment heals, you should avoid getting direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 30 days.
- After the first 20 days, you can return to the pool, sauna, steam room, hot showers, and baths.
- The Microbladed area should NOT be rubbed, picked at, or scratched. The scabs and dry skin on your body will go on their own. Scarring and loss of pigmentation can be the results of picking.
- Apply ointment once the eyebrows have dried. Apply the aftercare ointment for the number of days indicated by your artist with clean hands or a Q-Tip.
- Keep your face and eyebrows off the pillow for the first 7 days. And for the first 7-10 days, please keep your hair and bangs off your face.
- For the next 15 days, you should NOT apply cosmetics or skincare items to the treated region.
- After 10 days, you should start using sunscreen to prevent color fading.
- After having your eyebrows shaped, you should wait at least 15 days before getting them tinted.
- For the next 30 days, avoid any facials or chemical treatments.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE MICROBLADING APPOINTMENT
Before I go into detail about what to expect during a Microblading appointment, I want to emphasize the importance of arriving early or on time for your initial appointment, especially if your technician is well-known and has a busy schedule.
Because it will take quite some time to find another appointment for your Microblading if you miss your scheduled one. So, be mindful, people.
- 1ST STEP: CONSULTATION
At first, you and your artist will complete a consultation form when you first arrive. This will take no more than 20 to 30 minutes; within this time, you will also get the chance to ask your artist any further questions you have; they will answer any queries or address any worries you might have.
- 2ND STEP: DRAWING
After consulting with you, the technician will use a waterproof brow pencil to outline your face with precise eyebrow lines.
In addition to providing a chance to see the shape and a general concept of what you might look like, you can alter the shape or color at this time if you find it inappropriate.
The main purpose of drawing is to create a roadmap for the Microblading procedure. Around 30 minutes will be spared in this phase.
- 3RD STEP: PUTTING NUMBING CREAM
Your artist, in this phase, will apply numbing cream to the targeted brow area. Numbing cream or anesthetic cream is intended to minimize discomfort during Microblading.
Your mapped brows will be covered in numbing cream for at least 30 minutes, which will be removed or cleaned after keeping it for about 30 minutes.
- 4TH STEP: MICROBLADING or MICROFILMING
Now it turns to proceed with the official brow Microblading. This often takes around 30 to 60 minutes.
In this phase, your artist will apply hair strokes to your brows using a Microblading blade with a small amount of pigment on its tip.
After completing the first brow, the artist will apply topical anesthetic to the area, wipe away any excess color, and begin work on the second brow similarly. The artist will return to the first brow and begin filling in hair stroke two or three times as you relax under the anesthetic’s calming effects.
The artist will apply a color mask, wait 10 minutes, wipe the eyebrows, and then begin the shading once all the hair strokes have been drawn in.
- 5TH STEP: SHEDDING
Your artist will choose a shading method based on your specific requests and current trends. They will use shading needles between each hair strike to conceal exposed flesh.
Shading should be done by lightly tapping in layers; the more levels used, the darker the brows will be; the fewer layers used, the lighter the brows will be.
- 6TH STEP: SCHEDULING FOR TOUCH-UPS
After all the steps are done, your artist will ask you to follow up for a touch-up session, often four to six weeks after the Microblading.
Touch-ups are a good opportunity to fix your brows. Any areas where the ink did not fully penetrate the skin will be corrected in the touch-up session. The technician will also modify the color if the one you previously applied does not look great.
SHOULD YOU PLUCK EYEBROWS AFTER MICROBLADING
Yes!! It would be best to pluck your brows to retain the ideal shape.
In the Microblading process, your eyebrows’ hair is not entirely removed. Because, like other Micropigmentation processes, Microblading doesn’t require to remove of hair to produce a highly natural-looking finish;
But it would be best to remember that your brow hairs will naturally grow as you age. Thereby, You will need to keep waxing them afterward; otherwise, your Microbladed shape could be ruined by naturally growing brows.
Ensure you don’t pluck or thread your eyebrows for seven to 10 days to prevent the color from spreading or fading.
CAN EYEBROW MICROBLADING RUIN NATURAL EYEBROWS?
NO!! Your natural brow will not be ruined by Eyebrow Microblading. This is a widespread misunderstanding that many people hold.
Semi-permanent brow operations don’t affect how natural hair develops, even if your entire brow needs to be changed. It will neither slow down nor speed up your hair’s growth cycle. This is excellent news for folks with naturally thick brows who want to define their form and those with thin or overplucked brows who wish for a more extensive but natural final look.
If you have sparse brows and are looking forward to growing hair surrounding your eyebrow. In that case, semi-permanent procedures such as digital machines, feather touch, and Microblading can help you achieve a more even, fuller brow style.
So go ahead, amigos, and do this. Microblading will not affect your natural brows at all. Instead, It will help you improve your brows, fill in gaps, and make them look realistic.
FINAL THOUGHTS
If you finally decide to go for Microblading, make sure you book an appointment with a professional artist with ample experience.
A trained Microblading professional can help you get the most excellent possible look with your natural brows. After you finish the process, wait for about 14 or 15 days more after Microblading for a better eyebrow shape.
Finally, Maintain your eyebrows and visit your specialist often for regular touch up of the Microbladed eyebrows.
